About Ray Hill

'INSIDE SERIES'
These works are a direct result of my meditation practice.The seeking for harmony and balance in my life led me to investigate the art of meditation.Using the eastern tradition of contemplating the seven Chakra centres linked to the physical body.Each of the Chakras has an association to a dominant colour, the colours also interweave and blend together creating a vibrant, living mixed palette. The paintings are reflective contemplations, often subtle and calming.

'INNER LANDSCAPE SERIES'
We cannot improve on nature. The natural world has the most varied and glorious of colours. What we can do, through a process of co-creation, is absorb all that we see with our physical eyes: colour, tone, form and texture. Then we can internalise, by using our internal eyes and add our own imaginings. From this we are able to create something new. This morphing of the outside natural world and the internal world of imagination produces an image that is familiar and yet unrecognisable, comforting and intriguing. The eyes of the body see a version of reality. The internal eyes of the spirit bring forth a new form of reality, upon which the viewer may reflect outwardly and also inwardly.

I developed my art later in life than most. The turning point came when I did the Art Foundation course at the Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education. This led me to do a BA in Fine Art Painting at the University of Gloucestershire. It has always been my ambition and main goal in life to be an artist. Now I am fullfilling this goal.
